LITTORAL STATE and INVASIVE SPECIES II at GALERIE LA PATINOIRE ROYALE VALERIE BACH

LITTORAL STATES is a shifting, reciprocal project that explores affinities beyond time, place, tradition and medium. Working in collaboration between Montréal, Morin-Heights and Brussels, musicians Sarah Pagé and Patrick Graham, along with visual artist Tamar Kasparian, chart pathways at once elusive and overlapping. Referencing a variety of natural elements and artistic traditions, ‘Littoral States’ endeavours to dissolve boundaries and foreground the incorporeal.
From the beginning of the project ‘Littoral States’, Sarah Pagé and Patrick Graham worked with visual artist Kasparian Tamar on the interplay between sound and image. Tamar produced multiple, amazing mixed media works, and selected a series that accompanies the music in a beautifully hand-crafted special edition of the vinyl album. The design and binding were done by Mona Habibizadeh and Tatsuya Inuikawa (La Rivière Sèche), in Brussels. Each copy is personalized and signed by Tamar.
INVASIVE SPECIES is a research project inspired by the invasive alga Rugulopteryx Okamurae, which has been destroying the ecosystem of the Spanish Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts for several years. Having a deep knowledge of these coasts, and particularly the Strait of Gibraltar nature reserve, I quickly identified this alga in 2016 as an “anomaly” within this natural environment and this place, which had already inspired my series “Vegetal Chaos” and “Turbulent Infinity.”
Over the months, observation transformed into a mixture of anxiety and fascination, a need to draw and redraw this seaweed in perfect harmony with its proliferation. This seaweed, beautiful when observed as a single specimen, inspires disgust when it accumulates and suffocates all other forms of life. And then anxiety gave way to nostalgia, nostalgia for what is no more, for what my son will never see, never touch, never eat from this sea I love, and of which I can only pass on my memories and emotions through my work.

UNITED ARTISTS for CLIMATE
Born in the historic context of COP30, United Artists for Climate marks the first collective initiative of a global community of contemporary artists united around the climate emergency.
Launched by Art of Change 21, in partnership with Labverde (a major Brazilian actor in art and ecology since 2013), this new international community brings together contemporary artists from across the world who are concerned about – or already engaged in – environmental issues and who wish to take action together.
During COP30, from 10 to 21 November 2025
International artists highlighted their connection to the environment on Instagram through videos, artworks and testimonies to raise public awareness and call for commitments that match the urgency of the climate and environmental crisis.
